New Delhi: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Monday appealed for a global ban on Russian planes and ships using foreign airports or seaports as retribution to Putin's aggression against his country.

Taking to social networking site Facebook, the Ukranian president said, "we must close entry for this state in all ports, all canals and all the world's airports," reported news agency AFP.

He urged the world leaders to "consider a total closure of the skies to Russian missiles, planes and helicopters".

Zelensky also said that Russia, in order to pressurise Kyiv during the talks in Belarus resorted to bombarding and firing in several territories of Ukraine.

The pressure tactics by the Russian military was sharply criticised by the Ukranian president, who in a video message to Russia said "Don't waste your time."

Moments after the peace talks in Belarus ended, the Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke to his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and laid out prerequisites for halting aggression against Ukraine, reported AFP.

"A settlement is possible only if Russia's legitimate security interests are unconditionally taken into account, including the recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea, the demilitarisation and denazification of the Ukrainian state and ensuring its neutral status," said Kremlin, as reported by AFP.

Since Russia started its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the conflict has claimed lives of 352 civilians, including 14 children confirmed the Interior Ministry of Ukraine. The number of injured according to the ministry stands at 1,684, including 116 children. Thousands have fled the country.
