Pak ISI pumping in funds via Hafiz Saeed’s network for creating unrest in Kashmir: Sources

New Delhi: Shocking details have unfolded in the aftermath of Kashmir’s violent protests which claimed at least 30 lives and injured more than 250 people after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen’s commander Burhan Wani in an encounter last week. According to the sources, Pakistan's ISI is pumping in funds through LeT Chief Hafiz Saeed’s network for creating unrest in Kashmir. Earlier today Pakistan envoy Maleeha Lodhi raised the issue of Wani’s killing in 193-member UN General Assembly during a human rights debate, to which Indian Ambassador to UN Syed Akbaruddin responded strongly. In her statement, Lodhi, apart from raising the Kashmir issue, also mentioned the “extra-judicial” killing of Wani, whom she described as a “Kashmiri leader”, by Indian forces. While strongly condemning Pakistan envoy, Akbaruddin said Pakistan “extols” the “virtues” of terrorists and uses terrorism as a state policy towards the “misguided end” of coveting the territory of others. The UN also expressed concern over the tensed situation in Kashmir, with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon calling on all parties to exercise “maximum restraint to avoid further violence and hopes that all concerns would be addressed through peaceful means.” Ban’s spokesman had said the UN Chief was closely following the recent clashes in Kashmir and “regrets” the loss of dozens of lives and injuries to many others.
