4 Cops Killed, 16 Hurt In Terror Attack In Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Terrorists launched an attack on the Daraban police station in a remote part of the unruly Dera Ismail Khan district bordering the South Waziristan tribal district.
At least four security personnel were killed and 16 others sustained injuries on Tuesday after terrorists attacked a police station in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, news agency PTI reported, citing police. Terrorists launched an attack on the Daraban police station in a remote part of the unruly Dera Ismail Khan district bordering the South Waziristan tribal district.
According to PTI, the terrorists rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the building of the police station, which was followed by a mortar attack. In an exchange of fire between the security forces and the attackers after the attack, at least four security personnel were killed and 16 injured, police stated.
According to the ARY News channel, police also gunned down two terrorists during the gunfight. Following the attack, fresh contingents of police were rushed to the site, according to the police. All schools and colleges were closed due to the attack, and an emergency was declared in district hospitals.
The injured were shifted to DI Khan Hospital, the police said, adding that Daraban Tehsil has been completely cordoned off. Heavy contingents of police have reached the spot, as per ARY News.
As per ARY News, this is not the first time that a police station in Dera Ismail Khan has been attacked. Earlier in October, a police station in KP's Dera Ismail Khan district came under attack in which terrorists also used hand grenades and rockets.
An attack was carried out on Dera Ismail Khan's Hathala police station from two sides, leaving two cops wounded. However, the police repulsed the attack and forced the attackers to flee.
