Pakistan Anti-Terrorism Court Sentences 26/11 Attack Mastermind Hafiz Saeed To 10 Years In Jail Over Illegal Funding Case

Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 attack in Mumbai, had been arrested on July 17, 2019, at the Kamoke toll plaza which is 50km north of Lahore. Four verdicts have been given against him and he has been named in about 41 cases.

Islamabad: An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has sentenced Jamat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed to 10-year imprisonment in the case of illegal funding, Pakistan's local media reported. ALSO READ | PM Modi Speaks To US President-Elect Joe Biden, Discusses Covid-19 Vaccine, Climate Change Besides Saeed, two others have also been sentenced to prison. They are Prof Zafar Iqbal and Yahya Muhajid who have been given five years in prison on two separate charges and another six months over another case. A fine of Rs 1,10,000 has also been imposed. Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta ruled that all sentences will run concurrently. The movable and immovable properties of the three have been forfeited to the state, reported SAMAA TV. Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 attack in Mumbai, had been arrested on July 17, 2019, at the Kamoke toll plaza which is 50km north of Lahore. Four verdicts have been given against him while he has been named in about 41 cases. On February 12, the JuD chief was sentenced to jail over cases of illegal funding and encroachment. Court handed down the punishment of five years and six months in jail in both cases. More details about the development are being awaited.
