Israel Airstrike: Another Attack In Gaza Destroys High-Rise Building Housing International Media Offices

The building housed offices of international news agencies including The Associated Press, Al-Jazeera and others media organisation.

In yet another airstrike conducted by Israel on Saturday, a high-rise building that housed the offices of several news organsation was destroyed in the Gaza Strip.

The building housed offices of international news agencies including The Associated Press, Al-Jazeera and others media organisation. The high-rising building which was targetted was Al-Jalaa tower.

As per reports, the airstrike came roughly an hour after the Israeli military ordered people to evacuate the building which also housed media houses, other offices and residential apartments.

"Israel has given a “warning” that it will bomb the building that houses Al Jazeera offices and other international media channels in Gaza City in one hour," Al-Jazeera tweeted soon after the building was attacked by Israeli forces.

According to news agency AP, the air raid brought the entire 12-story building down, collapsing with a massive cloud of dust.

There was no immediate explanation for why it was attacked.

The move came hours after Israeli air raid on a densely populated refugee camp in Gaza City killed at least 10 Palestinians from an extended family, mostly children, in the deadliest single strike of the current conflict.

So far, the  Israeli forces have shot and killed 11 people in the  latest outburst of violence which began in Jerusalem and has spread across the region. 

Since Monday night, Hamas has fired hundreds of rockets into Israel, which has pounded the Gaza Strip with strikes. In Gaza, at least 139 people have been killed, including 39 children and 22 women.
