Man Snatches Greta Thunberg's Mic Amid Pro-Palestine Chants, Says Didn't Come For 'Political View'

A man invaded the stage and tried to pull climate activist Greta Thunberg's mic during a protest in Amsterdam amid chants in support of Palestine.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg was heckled by an invader while she was delivering a speech on Sunday. Greta was speaking at a large climate protest in Amsterdam when a man stormed the stage and snatched her microphone.

"Came here for a climate demonstration, not a political view," said the man as he tried to pull the microphone from Greta's hand. Shortly before the incident, chants of "Palestine will be free" could be heard from the crowd, according to a BBC report.

The incident was caught on camera and is being widely shared on social media.

Earlier during the rally, an activist had her speech cut short by organisers after using the slogan "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” according to news agency Reuters.

Many Jewish groups have expressed reservations at the use of the slogan, used at demonstrations around the world, as a call for the destruction of Israel. While pro-Palestinian activists argue that the phrase calls for an end to Israel's occupation of the West Bank and blockade of Gaza, not the elimination of Israel itself.

After the man was removed from the stage, Greta joined the crowd in chanting "no climate justice on occupied land", the BBC report stated.

The Swedish climate activist had come under fire last month for sharing pro-Palestinian messages on social media, with some accusing her of not showing support for Israeli victims of the Hamas attacks.

Widespread demonstrations have been taking place at various cities across the globe including London and Washington calling for a ceasefire as Israel continues to assault Gaza Strip in response to Hamas’ October 7 surprise attacks.

According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health authorities, more than 11,000 Palestinians have been killed in the besieged enclave so far with health facilities crippling in the region amid the bombings.
