Indian-American Doctors Join Hands With Gurdwaras To Distribute Free Meals To Covid-19 Patients
Amid the worsening situation, several Indian-American entities demonstrated unprecedented unity in coming together and raising funds for several food drives in schools, community colleges, temples and gurdwaras.

According to the reports, Greater Washington Association of Physicians of Indian-Origin and Guru Nanak Foundation of America recently held their first food drive over the weekend where they served more than 350 families which suffered huge losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Both the organisations also garnered support from other local medical and religious communities including India Development and Relief Fund, Jain temples, United Hindu, American Diversity Group and Hindu American Community Services.
As quoted in a PTI reports, a media release from Wednesday stated that millions of Americans lost their jobs and suffered huge income losses during these difficult COVID-19 times. Amid the worsening situation, several Indian-American entities demonstrated unprecedented unity in coming together and raising funds for several food drives in schools, community colleges, temples and gurdwaras.
"The association has taken a lead role in helping with prescriptions for hundreds of patients who were not able to return to India due to the Covid-19 pandemic and have run out of medicines," the release mentioned.

The initiative was reportedly launched by a US based leading charitable organisation named Sewa International which works on many aspects of the pandemic such as food kitchens, housing Indian students and convalescent plasma therapy for patients affected by Covid-19.
In one of the heart-touching contributions, it was reported that the doctors extended a great help to medical students who were not able to study amid the lockdown.
As per the reports, upon acknowledging that several hundred students of Montgomery College were facing difficulties in attending online classes due to lack of access to laptops, the doctors decided to help them out by donating more than 50 laptops to the needy students.
The United Stated is among the worst-hit countries by the COVID-19 pandemic. The country has recorded more than 2.43 million cases till date while the death tally stands at 124,000.
