The clip uploaded was from an interview where Trump said that children are "almost immune" to coronavirus.
Both platforms stated that this statement violated their policy regarding Covid-19 misinformation. While Facebook removed the video alone, Twitter briefly suspended a verified campaign account of Trump and restored it back after the video was removed.
"This video includes false claims that a group of people is immune from COVID-19 which is a violation of our policies around harmful COVID misinformation," a Facebook spokesperson was quoted as saying by the BBC.
Previously, Facebook has been accused of not taking action against posts of Donal Trump. On the other hand, Trump supporters have accused Twitter of being biased as the microblogging site previously flagged two tweets of the American president when he made false claims about Mail-in ballots.
Facebook had earlier removed a Trump campaign ad that featured a symbol used by Nazis for political dissenters, by stating that the ad violated its policies.
