Sanjay Pandey Appointed As New Mumbai Police Commissioner, Hemant Nagrale Transferred

New Mumbai Police Commissioner: Sanjay Pandey has been appointed as new Mumbai Commissioner of Police.

New Delhi: Maharashtra government on Monday appointed former acting DGP Sanjay Pandey as the new Mumbai Commissioner of Police.

Sanjay Pandey will replace Hemant Nagrale as the new DGP as reported by the news agency PTI.

Earlier, a 1986-batch IPS officer, Sanjay served as the Director-General of Police (DGP) post as an additional charge since April 9, 2021. He was replaced by IPS officer Rajnish Seth on February 18, 2022.

It is worth noting that last year's transfer of Parambir Singh was accompanied by several more transfers that caused deep discontent in the IPS lobby of Maharashtra. As a result of this discontent, a senior IPS officer Sanjay Pandey went on leave.

He had expressed his dissatisfaction by writing a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. In the sequence of transfers, senior IPS Sanjay Pandey, who was Director-General Home Guard and Civil Defense, was made the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Security Corporation Limited.

Because Parambir Singh was sent as the Director-General of Home Guard in his place. Dissatisfied with his new posting, Sanjay Pandey wrote a letter to the Chief Minister and Home Minister saying that you have neglected my seniority while transferring.
