Priyanka Chaturvedi, Jairam Ramesh Among Others Show Their Solidarity With The Farmers Through Masks

New Delhi: On the sixth day of the budget session held on February 3rd, Shiv Sena's Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi who has been targeting the Modi government over the farmers' agitation was seen wearing "I AM WITH THE FARMERS" mask. She even took to Twitter and shared photos from inside the Parliament before the proceedings began stating "Our mask is our message".

Various other members of parliament, including Jairam Ramesh and Sanjay Singh were seen sporting the same mask. After the Budget session, the Parliament could go smoothly for the third consecutive day, as opposition parties kept bringing the issue of the farmers and farm laws. AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh who has also been critical of three new agricultural laws during the end of zero hour in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday tried to raise the issue related to the farmers agitation. But Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu did not allow him, two other MPs of AAP including Sanjay Singh raised their voices. After which they were suspended for the entire day from the proceedings of the House.

Different opinions have been rising and ever since American popstar Rihanna and environmental activist Greta Thunberg voiced their support towards the farmers the protest has gained international attention. Yesterday, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that the criticism by foreign celebrities and attempts to “mobilise international support against India” on the government’s handling of the farmers’ protests without ascertaining facts were “neither accurate nor responsible”.
