Non-subsidised LPG Cylinder Price Rises Marginally For Second Time. Check Top City Rates.

In Delhi the price rise is Re 1 and Mumbai, it is ₹3.5 per cylinder. While Kolkata and Chennai saw the rise by Rs 4.50 and Rs 4 per cylinder, respectively.

New Delhi, Jul 1: At a time when the common man is already reeling under financial stress, there is little respite as the price of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders has been increased for the second consecutive month on Wednesday. Also Read: Sensex Hovers Around 35,000-Mark, Nifty At 10,300 Level, ITC, Axis Bank, HDFC Emerge Top Gainers The cost of Indian Oil's non-subsidised 14.2 kg cylinder is Rs 594 in Delhi and Mumbai. In Delhi the price rise is Re 1, the hike in Mumbai is ₹3.5 per cylinder. In Kolkata it has been raised by Rs 4.50 per cylinder, Rs 4 per cylinder in Chennai. In June, Delhi witnessed the retail price of LPG rising by ₹11.50 per cylinder. However, the current rate hike has been implemented after almost three rate cuts which had made LPG cylinders cheaper by ₹277, as per the data from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). On a daily basis, petrol and diesel prices are revised but LPG rates witness a change on the first day of every month. Before the Covid-19 outbreak in February, the rates had gone up to ₹858.50 (Delhi) but in March the rate went down to ₹805.50 as the global fuel demand were impacted due to the pandemic. In May, LPG price was cut from ₹744 to ₹581.50 per cylinder as the global energy market went into a sluggish mode. You get to buy LPG cylinders at the market price but the government transfers the subsidy directly into the account of eligible consumers.  The subsidy is the difference between market and subsidised price of cooking gas.
