New Hyundai Santro 2018 Expected Prices: Will It Undercut Tata Tiago, Maruti Celerio?
One of the most-awaited launch of the year is just round the corner. But will it fit within your budget?
Hyundai’s upcoming small car, the 2018 Santro, is all set to debut on 23 October 2018. It will be stacked above the Eon and below the Grand i10 in the company’s portfolio, so its pricing is bound to be competitive and lower than the Grand i10. It will be available with only one petrol engine, but with either a manual transmission or an AMT (automated manual transmission).
To be available in 5 variants, we expect prices of the new Santro to start from Rs 3.75 lakh. The variant-wise expected prices are as follows:
Hyundai Santro Variants |

1.1 MT Dlite |
Rs 3.75 lakh |
1.1 MT Era |
Rs 4.09 lakh |

Disclaimer: These prices are only estimates. Final prices are expected to vary.
The engine powering the 2018 Hyundai Santro is a 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder petrol unit which churns out 69PS of power with 99Nm of torque. But in the petrol-CNG guise, the performance figures drop to 59PS and 84Nm. Now, how much of a difference do these prices pose when compared to the outright rivals of the new Santro? Answer below.
Car |
2018 Hyundai Santro |
Datsun GO |
Maruti Suzuki Celerio |
Tata Tiago |
Maruti WagonR |
Price range (ex-showroom Delhi) |
Rs 3.75 lakh to Rs 5.35 lakh |
Rs 3.29 lakh to Rs 4.89 lakh |
Rs 4.21 lakh to Rs 5.40 lakh |
Rs 3.34 lakh to Rs 5.63 lakh |
Rs 4.14 lakh to Rs 5.39 lakh |
Considering the prices that we expect for the new Santro, we think it will be able to undercut the Celerio and WagonR. However, the Tata Tiago and GO are both very competitively priced products and start from even lower than Rs 3.5 lakh. The entry-level Tiago might be one of the more affordable cars in this space, but its fully loaded variant is also the most expensive. The Santro might not be the most affordable car in its entry-level variant, but we expect the more loaded variants to be priced competitively.
