Unlock 1.0: Delhi Metro Services Will Remain Closed For Commuters

A decision to restart international air travel, metro trains, cinema halls, gyms, political gatherings will be taken only after evaluating the situation in the coming days.

Lockdown 5.0: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday announced that metro services will continue to remain closed for commuters until further notice. DMRC's tweet minutes after the Centre declared that countrywide lockdown in containment zones will be extended till June 30. "In light of the guidelines issued by the government, Metro services will remain closed for commuters until further notice. Our helpline services 155370 shall also not be available. You may reach us at helpline@dmrc.org." Delhi Metro was shut for the past two months. According to the fresh guidelines from Ministry of Home Affairs, hospitality services, hotels and shopping malls will be allowed to open from June 8. Termed 'Unlock 1', the Union home ministry said re-opening of prohibited activities in areas outside containment zones will be done in a phased manner from June 1. Religious places of worship for public, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and other hospitality services will start functioning from June 8 in non-containment zones. Schools, colleges, educational, training, coaching institutions will be opened only after consultations and suggestions from states, parents and other stakeholders involved. The guidelines said that states and UTs can hold consultations with parents and other stakeholders on reopening of academic institutions from July. The fresh guidelines also revised the night curfew timing stating movement of individuals will now be prohibited between 9 pm and 5 am across the country.
