'When Everyone Fights Together...': Bihar CM Nitish Kumar After Meeting Thackeray, Pawar

"When everyone fights together, there will be a contest (with BJP). There will be good success (to opposition parties) and the country will head in the right direction," Kumar said.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday said that if more opposition parties could work together and stand united, it will produce better results while fighting against the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next Lok Sabha polls. Nitish Kumar, who along with Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, met with Uddav Thackeray at the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader's residence in Mumbai, news agency PTI reported.

"When everyone fights together, there will be a contest (with BJP). There will be good success (to opposition parties) and the country will head in the right direction," Kumar was quoted by PTI in its report.

CM Kumar stated that the opposition parties will decide that when their next meeting will be conducted.

"Our objective is the same...to work in the interest of the country. There should be no dispute and everyone should stay united," Kumar stated.

The meeting with Uddhav Thackeray is seen as an attempt to strengthen opposition unity ahead of the 2024 General Assembly elections.

Janata Dal (United) leader also met with Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar in Mumbai today. After meeting with NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar stated: "What the BJP is doing, is not in the interest of the country. So, the more the number of Opposition parties come together, the better it is in the interest of the nation. We have spoken with several political parties. We will sit together and take further decisions," ANI reported.

Kumar has met with opposition leaders to strengthen the bloc against the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of next year's general assembly elections.

He also met with Odhisha CM Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Kumar surprised the BJP in Bihar by breaking off relations and removing them from power last year. His proposal for a "united opposition," which he believes can challenge and overcome the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections next year, has gained nationwide attention.
