'Mamata Govt Failed To Protect Its Women,' BJP Attacks Bengal Govt Over Alleged Gangrape & Murder Of Minor Girl

BJP has raised questions on the law and order situation in West Bengal and has sad that the Mamata Banerjee government has failed to protect its women.

New Delhi: The gangrape and murder of a minor girl, who was reportedly the sister of local BJP booth president, triggered violent protests in West Bengal’s North Dinajpur region on Sunday. Lathi charge and tear gas were used by West Bengal cops on protesters who blocked the National Highway 31, which connects state capital Kolkata to Siliguri. Locals blocked road and set police vehicles and public buses on fire against the alleged gang-rape and murder of the girl. As per media reports, the girl was sixteen in age and had just passed her class 10th board exams. She went missing on Saturday night, following which a search exercise was launched by her family. Her body was recovered from under a tree. The incident took place in Chopra. Reports state that two bicycles and some mobile phones were recovered from the scene. A probe has been launched in this regard. BJP accuses TMC worker, attacks Mamata Govt: The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has accused a worker of the ruling Trinamool Congress for the alleged gangrape. It has raised questions on the law and order situation in West Bengal and has said that  the Mamata Banerjee government has failed to protect its women. BJP has alleged that the girl had to pay the price for being related to BJP booth president. “A 16 years old girl raped by Feroze Ali in Chopra. She died today morning. Did she pay the price of being the sister of the local BJP Booth President? And sadly, a state governed by a woman CM cannot protect it's girls,” it said in a tweet.
