From rebuking Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved for their replies to contempt notice to court to asking Ajit Pawar to issue bigger adds saying that the 'clock symbol' his party is using is sub-judice, Supreme Court saw a politically charged week. The high courts and trial courts were not behind as all eyes remained glued to what happens in Arvind Kejriwal's ED arrest. In a big win to the AAP, Sanjay Singh got bail from the Supreme Court in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. Shoma Sen also secured bail from the top court this week.

No Relief For Arvind Kejriwal As Delhi High Court Reserves Verdict In Plea Against Arrest

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved verdict on petition moved by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on allegations of money laundering in connection to the now scrapped Delhi Liquor Policy case. The verdict is likely to come out next week. The court concluded hearing counsels from both sides. The court witnessed many fiery exchanges between Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appearing for the Kejriwal and Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju appearing for ED. At the outset, ASG Raju said he was not served with proper documents by Singhvi and thus he can't argue. However, Singhvi called this a mere rouse and an attempt to seek another adjournment and said ASG was provided with the copy on mail. Many amusing arguements were made in court today. One such was by ED, that can a terrorist-politician who blows an Army vehicle, say he wants bail because he wants to stand in elections? ASG Raju cited heinous crimes to argue against release of Delhi CM. Singhvi in his rejoinder called these bizarre analogies. 'We Are Not Accepting Your Apology': SC Gives Ramdev One Last Chance In Contempt Case

The Supreme Court on Tuesday blasted Ramdev and Patanjali MD Acharya Balakrishna for their reply in contempt notice in a misleading advertisement case by the IMA. The court came down heavily on Patanjali MD for calling the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act 1954 an archaic one in the apology to the Supreme Court. Read More...

A man from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh walked out of jail after spending more than eleven years in jail in after he was acquitted in the alleged rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl. Anokhilal was first sentenced to death in 2013 at the age of 21 by a special court in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district. After the trial court held him guilty in 2013, the Supreme Court set aside the death penalty and conviction and ordered a retrial in the case. Cross-Gender Massages In Delhi Spas: What HC Said On PIL Seeking Ban, Video Recordings

The Delhi High Court in a recent order junked a public interest litigation (PIL) petition seeking a ban on cross-gender massages in spas and massage centres in Delhi. 

A bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora dismissed the petition as another bench of the Delhi High Court is already looking at a case challenging the validity of the Guidelines for Operation of Spas/Massage Centers in Delhi issued by Delhi government in August 2021. The Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister MK Stalin has moved an original suit before the Supreme Court against the Modi Government claiming that the Centre is withholding the relief funds for natural calamities. The southern state has filed a suit under Article 131 of the Constitution, seeking directions to the Centre to release Rs. 37,000 crore in aid for damages caused by cyclone Maichung and floods.
