Weather Update: IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In These States For 3 Days

The IMD forecasted rain in many northern states, including Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Haryana, during the next three days.

New Delhi: The Southwest monsoon will move further into the northern plains. According to the India Meteorological Department, the circumstances are favourable for the monsoon to progress further towards some additional regions of Rajasthan, the whole Punjab, and Haryana during the next 24 hours.

On Thursday, the monsoon progressed farther into Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, portions of Rajasthan, sections of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. The IMD forecasted rain in many northern states, including Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Haryana, during the next three days.

"Due to Monsoon advance over Delhi, most parts of city has reported rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall during past 03 hrs, till 11:30 hrs IST: Rainfall Amount (in mm) during this period: Lodhi Road-77.0, Safdarjung Airport: 64.8, Ridge-26.0, Ayanagar-22.6, Palam Airport: 10.4," IMD tweeted. 

Heavy rain is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and West Rajasthan on July 1 and in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi till July 2. Rainfall is also expected in east Rajasthan till July 3. Heavy rain is expected in Uttarakhand during the next four to five days.

During the next five days, the MeT Department predicts widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms or lightning across Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Similar meteorological conditions are expected in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal.

"Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Jharkhand on 30th June & 01st July; Bihar during 30thJune-02nd July; Gangetic West Bengal on 30th June and over Odisha during next 5 days. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall also likely over Odisha on 04th July, 2022," the weather department said. 

Rainfall is also forecast in southern states such as Kerala and Karnataka. During the next five days, extensive rainfall is anticipated over Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra. Isolated strong to very heavy rainfall is also expected across the Konkan and Goa region until July 2.
