Hunt On As Vikas Dubey Manages To Evade Cops Again; Here's What Has Happened So Far | A Timeline
The police are close on the heels of the notorious history-sheeter Vikas Dubey. Here is what has happened so far.
New Delhi: The search for elusive history-sheeter Vikas Dubey has heated up with police tightening state borders and increasing the bounty in the hopes of nabbing the gangster. They have also so far been successful in capturing several close aides. In recent reports, Vikas Dubey was spotted in a hotel in Faridabad but he escaped before the police could catch him. Here is a look at the timeline of events since the deadly Kanpur encounter with the gangster that took the lives of 8 police officers.
July 8- Amar Dubey, a close aide of Vikas Dubey, killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Hamirpur on Wednesday. UP Special Task Force (STF) gunned him down in coordination with the local police unit in Hamirpur. Soon after another one Shyamu Bajpai was arrested in Chaubeypur area. Both had was a reward of Rs 25,000 on them.
July 7- Sighting of history-sheeter Vikas Dubey in a Faridabad hotel. As per the inputs, Vikas had stayed at an OYO room in Faridabad’s Badkhal Chowk under a false identity but again managed to evade the cops.
July 6- Uttar Pradesh police nab close aide Jai Vajpayee. They also seized three luxury cars: Audi, Fortuner, and Verna. The cars did not even have a registration plate. Bounty on Dubey increased to Rs 2.50 lakh. An old video surfaced in which Dubey claims to have a connection with a BJP MLA Bhagwati Sagar.
July 5- Uttar Pradesh police successfully capture the main accomplice Daya Shankar Agnihotri. He was also involved in the killing of the eight cops in Kanpur. He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000.
July 4- Uttar Pradesh Police suspended Station Officer (SO) at Chaubepur Police station Vinay Tiwari on the suspicion of tipping off criminals during the raid to arrest Vikas Dubey. UP Police also razed the house of Vikas Dubey in Bithoor's Dikru village on Saturday. Police said they had information that Dubey had hidden a lot of arms and ammunition in a bunker.

July 3- Eight police personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), were gunned down in a village near Kanpur city by the henchmen of gangster Vikas Dubey. The raid was carried out at 1 am in Bithoor area in Chaubepur.
