VIDEO: Tribals Carry Pregnant Woman On Makeshift Doli Across Stream In Visakhapatnam
Sravani, who was suffering from severe abdominal pain, could not traverse the inaccessible road leading to the village.
In a striking reminder of inadequate infrastructure, tribals from Bodigaruvu village in Devarapalli mandal, Visakhapatnam district, carried a pregnant woman on a makeshift doli across a stream and rough terrain to ensure she reached the hospital in time.
Sahu Sravani, who was suffering from severe abdominal pain, could not traverse the inaccessible road leading to the village. With no ambulance or other transport options available, the villagers quickly assembled a doli—a traditional stretcher—and carefully maneuvered through the challenging landscape to bring her to safety.

This incident has once again spotlighted the long-standing difficulties faced by residents of Bodigaruvu, who have repeatedly appealed to authorities for the construction of a proper road to their remote village. Villagers expressed frustration over the lack of action, emphasizing that the absence of basic infrastructure forces them to take such extreme measures during medical emergencies.
Locals have called for immediate intervention to address their plight, stressing that a permanent road would eliminate the recurring risk and hardship of carrying patients under such dire circumstances.
Meanwhile, in another incident in the hilltop village of Kothuru Panchayat in ASR district, the Konda Dora tribe, recognized as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) with a population of 50, continues to face significant hardships.
Kereogi Chinnammi, a member of the tribe, could not access medical care despite suffering from severe swelling in her legs and body due to the lack of proper road infrastructure. Later, her husband Ramesh had to gather family and friends to carry her in a makeshift 'doli' for 7 kilometers to reach the S. Kota Area Hospital.
