Amit Shah Accuses Congress Of Leading Youth Into 'Dark World Of Drugs' After Massive Drug Bust In Delhi

Amit Shah claimed that while the Modi government adheres to a strict "zero-tolerance" policy on drugs, Congress leaders were allegedly involved in enabling drug trafficking.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday accused the Congress party of leading the nation's youth into the "dark world of drugs" following a major drug bust in Delhi, where narcotics worth over Rs 5,600 crore, including 500 kg of cocaine, were seized on Wednesday.

The prime suspect, Tushar Goyal, has been arrested in connection with the haul. Amit Shah asserted that while the Modi government follows a strict "zero-tolerance" policy on drugs, Congress leaders are allegedly involved in facilitating drug trafficking.

"While the Modi government is adopting a zero-tolerance policy for a 'Drug-Free India,' the involvement of a prominent Congress leader in the ₹5,600 crore drug consignment seized from North India is extremely dangerous and shameful," Shah said in a post on X.

"Everyone has seen the plight of youth in Punjab, Haryana, and across North India due to drugs during Congress rule. While the Modi government is guiding youth towards sports, education, and innovation, Congress wants to lead them into the dark world of drugs," Amit Shah added.

Adding that the government is committed to dismantling the entire drug network, regardless of political stature, he said, "The sin of Congress leaders using their political influence to push the youth into the quagmire of drugs will not be allowed by the Modi government. Our government is determined to make India a 'drug-free country' by dismantling the entire drug network, without considering the political position or stature of the drug dealers."

However, Congress has refuted any association with Tushar Goyal, who reportedly confessed during questioning that he had served as the chairman of the RTI cell for Delhi Pradesh Congress until 2022. Investigators also discovered that Goyal's social media profile identified him by that title, further linking him to his role within the Congress.

On Thursday, in a post on X, the Youth Congress lashed out at the BJP, urging it to "stop misleading the country on the basis of lies and deception." "Stop misleading the country on the basis of lies and deception, as this is a crime under the law. @IYCLegalCell will soon provide a legal response," the Youth Congress stated.

The Congress Youth wing's denial came after the BJP alleged a link between Goyal and the party.
