The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill is all set to be tabled and debated today in the four-day special session of the Uttarakhand state assembly. Security has been tightened outside the assembly ahead of its tabling by the Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami-led BJP government in the state. The final draft of the UCC was cleared by the Uttarakhand Cabinet on Sunday. The special session was called to pass the Uniform Civil Code bill. Once implemented, Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country after Independence to adopt it.
