Chennai: The new rule makes the E-pass registration mandatory for inter - districts passengers in Tamil Nadu. Those who need to attend essential events such as marriages, funerals, medical treatment, and elderly care, will be allowed to travel after registering themselves on the state government website.

The lockdown in Tamil Nadu has been further extended with some amendments in the rule as per the decisions taken at the meeting of all party assembly leaders to control the spread of coronavirus. According to the report, an E-pass is required to travel between districts under these new guidelines.

The e-registration is mandatory for passengers traveling for essential activities such as marriages, funerals, medical treatment, and elderly care. It will come into effect from 6 am on the 17th. As a result, people are confused as to whether an E-pass is mandatory for travel within the districts.

Inter-district commuters are only required to register for the e-pass. It is mandatory to get the pass to travel, they can commute once registered.
