Three Cops killed By Poachers In MP: CM Chouhan Vows Strict Action, Announces Ex-Gratia

New Delhi: Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan spoke to the media Saturday and said that the three policemen who lost their lives while trying to catch poachers in Guna district will be given the status of martyrs, and their families will be given Rs 1 crore each. The three policemen including SI of Aron police station, head constable and constable were killed after poachers started firing at them in the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh in the early hours of Saturday, SP Guna Rajeev Mishra told ANI.
The CM said, "They'll be given the status of martyrs & Rs 1 Cr each will be given to their families. One member of each of their families will be given govt job. Last rites will be held with full honour. Decided to immediately remove Gwalior IG for reaching late at the spot after the incident".
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a high-level emergency meeting at 9:30 AM at his residence in connection with the incident. An official from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) had said that senior police officers including the DGP, home minister, chief Secretary and others will attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, the state Home Minister Narottam Mishra called the incident “unfortunate” and said that some information about the poachers was received earlier after which the police reached the scene and surrounded the miscreants who started firing at the policemen killing the three cops in the line of duty.
He also informed that 5 heads and 2 carcasses of deer along with a carcass of a peacock were recovered. “We will nab them soon & strict action will be taken. 5 heads & 2 carcasses of deer along with a carcass of a peacock were recovered. It seems like they were poachers”, said Mishra, as reported by PTI.

Sources of PTI said the police team had gone to the spot following reports about four deer of rare species being killed by poachers. Police sub-inspector Rajkumar Jatav and two constables - Nilesh Bhargava and Santaram Meena - were killed in the firing, Mishra told reporters, PTI reported.
Meanwhile, CM Chouhan said, that action against the poachers will be exemplary.
