Terrorists kill civilian in J&K's Pulwama

Pulwama (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 17 (ANI): A woman was shot dead by terrorists on Friday in Pulwama's Drubgam village.

The woman has been identified as Shameemaa Akhtar.

In another incident, terrorists hurled a grenade at security forces in Awantipora town of Pulwama district. However they missed their target and the grenade exploded in the market area, critically injuring a civilian.

The area has been cordoned off.

More details are awaited.

Earlier in the day, two encounters broke out between security forces and terrorists in Karalgund area of Kupwara district and the other in Hajin area of the state's Bandipora district.

The valley has witnessed a sudden surge in encounter incidents since the past few months. (ANI)
