TERROR ALERT! Several IAF Bases Including Pathankot On High Alert After Intel Warns Of JeM Plot

Senior officers are reviewing security arrangements 24x7 to tackle the threat. The alert has emanated after agencies monitored movements of Jaish terrorists.

New Delhi: A terror alert has been issued against a possible suicide attack by Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists at Indian Air Force bases in an around Jammu and Kashmir, top government sources have said. As per military intelligence for the Indian Armed Forces, terrorists may target Indian Air Force bases or a major security headquarter or a  metro city. Intelligence agencies have issued warning against a module, of around eight to ten terrorists of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, which will possibly try to carry out a suicide attack against Air Force bases in and around Jammu and Kashmir, sources said. The IAF bases in Srinagar, Awantipora, Jammu, Pathankot and Hindon have been put on high alert at orange level. Senior officers are reviewing security arrangements 24x7 to tackle the threat. The alert has emanated after agencies monitored movements of Jaish terrorists. The terrorists have arrived in different groups and are most likely to carry out their operations in the guise of labourers, as per the inputs.  The military intelligence doubts people in engineering services to be allegedly involved in the plot. The Pathankot airbase which has previously been attacked by Jaish-e-Moahmmed terrorist is once again the target, among others including Udhampur air base . Security has been beefed at all the places listed by the intelligence. This comes two days after Army chief Bipin Rawat said Balakot terrorists' camp in Pakistan, which was destroyed by the IAF in February, had been reactivated to send terrorists across the border in India in the backdrop of heightened tension between India and Pakistan over the abrogation of special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Last month, Pakistan had, the government sources said, deployed its Special Service Group (SSG) commandos along the Sir Creek area in Gujarat. Security forces have eliminated several terrorists and foiled several infiltration bids over the past two months. Watch:
