Teachers' Day 2021: President Kovind Confers National Awards To 44 Teachers, Celebrations To Continue Till Sept 17

Teachers Day 2021: Shikshak Parv 2021 will be virtually celebrated from today. The president has rewarded 44 teachers in a virtual program. A documentary will also be shown on all 44 awardees.

Teachers Day 2021: Teachers' Day 2021 is being celebrated all across the country today. Like last year, the Department of School Education and Literacy is celebrating the Shikshak Parv on this occasion to honour the valuable contributions of teachers and take the National Policy on Education (NEP) 2020 a step further. Shikshak Parv 2021 will be virtually celebrated from today to September 17. President Ram Nath Kovind has conferred 44 teachers with National awards at a virtual event today. A documentary on all these 44 awardees will also be screened during this period.

The National Teachers' Awards was first introduced in 1958 to honour the excellence and commitment of teachers in shaping the minds of future youth as well as empowering them. These awards are given to publicly honour talented teachers working in primary and secondary schools.

PM Modi to address on September 7 

As part of the Shikshak Parv, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address teachers, students, parents and stakeholders in the field of education at 11 am on September 7. The Prime Minister will launch five initiatives of the Department of Education, including the 10,000-word Indian sign language dictionary, Talking Books (Audio Book for the Visually Impaired), CBSE's School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (SQAAF), the Nishtha Teachers Training Programme for Nipun Bharat and the Vidyanjali Portal (for the convenience of education volunteers/donors/CSR subscribers for school development). The conclave will be attended by senior officials of the Ministry as well as Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Ministers of State for Education Annapurna Devi and Dr Subhas Sarkar and Minister of State for Education Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.

Several programmes to be held till September 17 under Shikshak Parv. 

A number of other events including webinars, discussions, presentations will be organized till September 17 under the Shikshak Parv. In which education experts from various schools in the country have been invited to share their experience, learning and to present a roadmap for the future It is worth noting that teachers and practitioners from remote schools will talk about issues related to quality and innovation in schools.

SCERT and the Diet of the respective states will also come forward in every webinar and discuss and share the roadmap. The theme of webinars is divided into sub-subjects such as technology in education: NDEAR, foundational literacy and numeracy: a pre-requisites to education and ECCE, nurturing inclusive classrooms, etc., through which emphasis will be laid on the best processes and initiatives. These can be adopted by schools in India.

Delhi govt to celebrate Teachers' Day as 'Gratitude Day'

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday that the Delhi government will celebrate Teachers' Day today as 'Gratitude Day' and reward 122 teachers who performed their duties promptly during the Covid pandemic. In addition, two teachers Raj Kumar and Suman Arora will be conferred the 'Face of DOE' Award for outstanding work under the Directorate of Education (DoE), Government of Delhi. These teachers will be awarded at a function to be held on Teachers' Day today.

The deputy chief minister said two special awards will also be given to Bharti Kalra and Sarita Rani Bhardwaj, who provided tablet devices to students during the pandemic and helped them in various ways so that they could continue their studies. He said out of 1,108 applications received for these teacher awards, the committee has finalized 122 applications. He also pointed out that earlier the number of awards was 103, which has been increased this year. Also, the criteria of 15 years of teaching experience considered for award has been reduced to three years.
