Social Activist & Former MLA Swami Agnivesh Passes Away At 80 After Multiple Organ Failure

Swami Agnivesh passed away at the age of 80 after prolonged illness. Agnivesh was also known for his stint in the reality show Bigg Boss. He spent three days inside the Bigg Boss house as a house guest.

Swami Agnivesh death news: Social activist Swami Agnivesh passes away at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, Delhi. He was suffering from liver cirrhosis and was critically ill. The social activist was admitted to the ILBS on Tuesday and had been on ventilator since then. A multi-disciplinary team was monitoring his condition. He had joined Arya Samaj, and was also a known social activist, his most prominent work being in the direction of eradication of bonded labour.  Agnivesh was the president of the World Council of Arya Samaj for a decade (2004 to 2014) which is the highest international body of the Arya Samaj movement originally established by Dayanand Saraswati in 1875. Agnivesh was also known for his stint in the reality show Bigg Boss. He spent three days inside the Bigg Boss house as a house guest, from 8 to 11 November in the year 2011 when the fifth edition of the show was aired.  Agnivesh was even criticized heavily by the Arya Samaj for participating in the reality show, which said that his participation has hurt the sentiments of the entire saffron clan. Directorate General of Information & Public Relations, Govt of Maharashtra Dayanand Kamble, who is among the early ones to condole the demise of the seer said: "Born to a Brahmin couple in Andhra Pradesh, Swami Agnivesh renounced his name and caste, religion, family, and all his belongings and property to lead the life of a sannyasi." INC leader Salman Nizami condoled his demise and wrote: "Swami Ji's passing is a personal loss to me. We worked together. One of the finest humans beings, a truly honorable man is no more. Would be remembered for his tireless service to humanity. Om Shanti!"
