New Delhi: Congress leader and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor is facing backlash from Bharatiya Janta Party over his comment on PM Modi’s headgears. Lashing out at Tharoor Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju tweeted saying, “Congress party and Shashi Tharoor ji please explain what's the English meaning of outlandish and hilarious headgear? You can't get away after insulting the tribal and Northeast people”. Taking on PM, Tharoor had made remarks on PM saying he wears “outlandish” and “hilarious” Naga headgears during his trips but refused to wear a Muslim skull cap. Now, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded an apology from the Congress party for insulting the people of Northeast and tribals, apart from seeking explanation from Tharoor. BJP leader Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also took on Tharoor and said, “Shashi Tharoor insults the proud cultural heritage of the people of Northeast. This condescension and arrogance towards the people of India have become hallmark of Congress”. No apology has come from Tharoor so far.
