SC asks Centre to file affidavit on Rafale deal

The court further said that “documents considered strategic and confidential may not be shared”.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the central government to disclose information on Rafale Deal which can be legitimately put in public domain and information on induction of Indian offset partner should be furnished to petitioners who have filed PILs. The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Centre to file an affidavit within 10 days to say that the pricing in the Rafale fighter jet deal between India and France is exclusive and cannot be shared with the court. A bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices U U Lalit and K M Joseph also asked the Centre to share information which can be brought in the public domain with the petitioners. The court further said that “documents considered strategic and confidential may not be shared”. The apex court has now fixed the matter for hearing on November 14. This comes after government had declared that it cannot reveal the details and pricing of the Rafale jets it has purchased from France as they are highly confidential and include sensitive information. The Congress has accused the government of a huge scam in purchase of Rafale jets and the party has organised several nation-wide protests over the same.
