Savarkar Has Written There Is No Problem In Eating Beef: Digvijaya Singh

Bhopal: Taking a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Saturday quoted Sangh ideologue Veer Savarkar and said that Hinduism has nothing to do with Hindutva.

Singh said there are Hindus, who eat beef and claim that eating beef is not prohibited, adding there are also some Hindus who oppose cow slaughter.

“Veer Savarkar has written in his book that Hinduism has nothing to do with Hindutva. He never considered cow as ‘mata’,” he said.

Singh said Savarkar, who is now the ideologue of BJP and Sangh, has written in his book that there is no problem in consuming beef.

The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, who was speaking during the ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ in Bhopal, categorically stated that the grand old party has a fight with the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Escalating his attack on the ruling party, the Congress leader said the BJP will change the Constitution and end the reservation system if it is voted to power again in 2024, ANI reported.

The Congress leader, who has been vocal against the Sangh, had earlier in September this year drew an analogy between the RSS and Taliban after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement about working women.

 

He quoted a 2013 statement of Bhagwat where he reportedly said, “women should be housewives; men should be breadwinners” to target the RSS.
