AAP MP Sanjay Singh's Rajya Sabha Membership Restored After One Year Of Suspension

Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh's Rajya Sabha membership was restored on Thursday after he was suspended last year during the monsoon session.

Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh's Rajya Sabha membership was restored on Thursday after he was suspended last year during the monsoon session. He was suspended for the remainder of the monsoon session for repeatedly “violating” the directives of the chair. Sharing the news on his twitter handle, the AAP leader said that he got to experience the Rajya Sabha after almost one year. He expressed his gratitude to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankarand all memeber of the Privilege committee.

“After almost a year, I got the permission to enter Parliament. The suspension is over. Heartfelt thanks to honourable Chairman and Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankar, Chairman of the Privilege Committee and all the honourable members,” he posted on social media account X.

AAP's senior leader Singh was suspended from Rajya Sabha for unruly behaviour in July 2023. Singh was re-elected to Rajya Sabha for the second time and was granted permission by a Delhi court in Februrary this year to take oath while he was lodged in jail in connection to the alleged Delhi Liquor Policy case.

Singh was arrested in October 2023 and was released on April 2 this year after he secured a bail from the Supreme Court.

On Wednesday, the AAP leader said that he would discuss the arrest of AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with the leaders of the INDIA alliance and request them to raise this issue in the Parliament.

In his press conference, Singh blasted the BJP-led central government of misusing Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to target opposition parties.
