Rs 200 notes to enter market by Deepawali?

The delay in introducing the new notes in the market is because of re-calibration of ATMs according to the new size of notes. The process will take time.

New Delhi: According to the reports, the 200 rupee notes, which were heard to hit the market by the end of this month, might actually come only during Deepawali. The nod for printing the currency, reportedly, was given by finance ministry only in late June or early July. However, reportedly, the printing process could take over a month and after that, only the notes will be set in circulation. But the sources said that it would take around a month or so to set in the circulation of notes. It has been further revealed that the new notes might appear in orange or might be a mix of orange and yellow. It will be smaller like the Rs 500 notes currently being circulated. The delay in introducing the new notes in the market is because of re-calibration of ATMs according to the new size of notes. The process will take time. The sources said that the new currency will go through multiple numbers of security checks before being circulated. After the 2000 denomination notes were circulated in the market, people started facing problems with a bigger denomination and consequently the need for smaller currency of notes arose.  In the wake of the situation, the government finally decided to begin the process for 200 denomination notes.
