'Out-Of-Term Allotment To Others Proves BJP Is Vindictive': Uddhav Sena Backs Raghav Chadha In Bungalow Row
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP has backed AAP leader Raghav Chadha and said that the cancellation of his allotment to a government bungalow shows BJP's 'vindictive attitude'.
Raghav Chadha Bungalow Row: Shiv Sena (UBT) has come in support of Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha after the Rajya Sabha secretariat cancelled his bungalow allotment following a Delhi court order. Now, accusing the BJP of having a "vindictive attitude", Uddhav Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi claimed that a lot of people have been given out-of-term allotments. She said many people have had the privileged to get houses that are not in their category.
"If the records are checked, it can be seen that a lot of people get out of term allotments... A lot of people get such houses that are not in their category... The targeting of one person shows the vindictive attitude of the ruling party..." she said.

Earlier, AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha condemned the move to cancel the allocation of his bungalow, calling it "arbitrary and unprecedented". Chadha alleged that the cancellation was orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to advance their political agenda, reported news agency ANI.
Chadha said: "It is unprecedented in more than 70 years of the history of Rajya Sabha that a sitting member is sought to be removed from his duly allotted accommodation." Chadha moved into the government bungalow around four years ago.
This came after a Delhi court on Friday ruled against his right to continue occupying the government-provided residence after the allotment was annulled. "Plaintiff (Raghav Chadha) cannot claim that he has an absolute right to continue to occupy the accommodation during his entire tenure as a Member of Rajya Sabha. The allotment of Government accommodation is only a privilege given to the plaintiff, and he has no vested right to continue to occupy the same even after the cancellation of allotment," the court was quoted by IANS in its report.
According to Chadha, the allotment was initially approved by the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, considering various factors specific to him. The sudden cancellation without apparent cause or reason led Chadha to believe that the move was a deliberate attempt to target and victimise him.
