Chandigarh Corona Guidelines: Locals To Undergo Night Curfew From 10 PM To 5 AM, Check Details Here

Stricter measures like weekend curfew and closure of crowded places will be considered if the residents fail to follow Covid-19 norms.

Chandigarh: As Punjab continues to witness an alarming spike in Coronavirus cases, the Chandigarh administration on Tuesday announced a night curfew in the city which will be enforced from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily.

The night curfew will be imposed from tomorrow i.e. Wednesday. Only essential services will be allowed to function during this time period, an official release informed.

During this night curfew, no gatherings will be allowed and all restaurants have to be closed down by 10 p.m. Parties and other non-essential activities will not be permitted.

Punjab Governor V.P. Singh Badnore, who is also the Administrator of Chandigarh, announced the decision at a high-level meeting chaired by him.

People have been warned to abide by these guidelines, or else the administration can also go on to impose a weekend curfew.

India on Monday recorded 1,03,558 new coronavirus cases which is the highest single-day tally since the Covid outbreak in the country.

Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab are the states showing a spike in the daily new cases.

The Central Government has rushed 50 high-level multi-disciplinary public health teams to 50 districts across Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Punjab in view of the alarming surge in daily new Covid-19 cases and the daily fatalities being reported by these States.

Meanwhile, the Chandigarh police have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the night curfew.

Stricter measures like weekend curfew and closure of Apni Mandis and other crowded places will be considered if the residents fail to follow the required Covid-19 protocols.
