Threat Letters To Punjab BJP Leaders Talks Of Revenge Over Killing Of 'Brothers In Canada & Pakistan'
Three BJP leaders — Parminder Singh Brar, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Tajinder Singh Saran — from the Sikh community have received threat letters at the party's Punjab office in Chandigarh.
Three BJP leaders from the Sikh community have purportedly received threat letters at the party's Punjab office in Chandigarh. One of these leaders has given this information. The letters were addressed to BJP leaders Parminder Singh Brar, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Tajinder Singh Saran. Only the letter sent to Saran was opened as two other letters also appeared to have come from the same source. Saran said that the letter addressed to him was sent through registered post and was received at the party office on July 1.
Tajinder Singh Saran further said that the letter also contained a packet of powder and he suspected that it could be some 'dangerous' substance. Separate letters were received in the name of Brar and Sirsa at the BJP office. However, these letters were not opened. Saran said that he lodged a complaint with the Chandigarh Police and handed over all three letters for further action. The police said that they are investigating the matter. The handwritten letter in Punjabi calls the three leaders 'traitors'.
Threat of revenge for murder
BJP's Punjab unit general secretary Brar and Saran have been accused of 'interfering' in Sikh religion and misleading people at the behest of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP. The letter said that BJP national secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa is "speaking the language of the RSS" and he will be "taught a lesson". The letter also threatened to take revenge for the "murder of many brothers in Canada and Pakistan".
The letter also mentions the names of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistan supporter who was killed in Canada last year; Khalistan supporter Avtar Singh, who was involved in the attack on the Indian High Commission in London and was killed last year; and Paramjit Singh Panjwar, a terrorist killed in Pakistan last year.
