Pulwama Encounter: LeT Commander Abu Huraira, Two Local Terrorists Killed In South Kashmir; Operation Underway

Jammu and Kashmir Police said that the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on the security forces. 

Pulwama: Two unidentified militants were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama town of south Kashmir on Wednesday. Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Pulwama town following information about presence of militants there.

Jammu and Kashmir Police said that the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on the security forces. 

The official told that security personnel have been deployed in Pulwama town where an encounter broke out. The area has been cordoned off and and operation is in progress. 

IGP Kashmir told news agency ANI that Pakistani LeT Commander Aijaz alias Abu Huraira was killed along with 2 local terrorists. 

Earlier on July 8, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama. The encounter took place at a time when some areas of the Valley remained closed to mark the completion of five years after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist commander Burhan Wani. 

On the same day, two terrorists were also killed in an encounter in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The slain terrorists have been identified as Kifayat Ramzan Sofi of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba and Inayat Ahmed Dar of Al Badr.
