Pulwama Attack | No Terrorist Wanted To Take JeM Leadership Role After Retaliation, Says Lt Gen Dhillon

Lt Gen KJS Dhillon (Retd) commanded 15 Corps in Srinagar when the 2019 Pulwama attack took place.

New Delhi: Lt Gen KJS Dhillon (Retd), who commanded 15 Corps in Srinagar when the 2019 Pulwama attack took place, said no terrorist wanted to take up the leadership role in Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) following India's retaliation.

In an interview with ANI, Dhillon said Indian forces eliminated the module behind the Pulwama attack led by a Pakistani national Kamran within 100 hours of the attack.

"The security forces eliminated the module behind the Pulwama attack led by a Pakistani national Kamran within 100 hours of the attack. After security forces' operations against Jaish-e-Mohammed, their terrorists were so scared of dying that nobody wanted to take the leadership role," ANI quoted Lt Gen KJS Dhillon as saying.

"We have intercepts where calls from Pakistan would ask terrorists to take a leadership role but they would refuse," Dhillon said.

Forty CRPF personnel died in a terrorist attack on their convoy in Pulwama in 2019. The suicide bomber was identified as Jaish-e-Mohammad's Adil Ahmed Dar.

In retaliation, the Indian Air Force had carried out an airstrike in Pakistan's Balakot on February 26, 2019, targeting terrorist camps.

Talking about Pakistan's involvement in terror activities in India, Dhillon said, "Pakistan Army, ISI and terrorist organisations work in unison. No one can cross LoC without the active participation and guidance of Pakistani Army."

"We apprehended Pakistani nationals on LoC in Gulmarg sector who were brought into LoC by Pak post opposite to our post," he further said.
