Priyanka Gandhi disappoints Congress workers at Lucknow office. Here'why.

Priyanka's roadshow is also seen as launch of the party's campaign in the state ahead of the Lok Sabha polls which the BJP believes would have no impact to its prospects.

Lucknow: Priyanka Gandhi disappointed hundreds of Congress supporters by not delivering a speech after visiting party office on Monday evening.  The workers and supporters who marched along her cavalcade for 25 kilometers since morning were left dejected for not being able to hear their leader who made a roaring political debut in the state. "We traveled hundreds of kilometers and came here to listen to Priyanka Gandhi's speech but she hasn't addressed. We are very disappointed," said some of the supporters. As the procession concluded at the Congress office from the city airport, Rahul Gandhi chose to address the swarming crowds instead and assailed PM Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal. Earlier, Priyanka was accompanied by party president Rahul Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia, in-charge of the western region, and other some other Congress leaders for the roadshow. The 47-year-old sported a kurta and a stole, and waved at the jubilant party workers who jostled catch a glimpse of her. The Congress hasn't tasted success in the previous state and general polls in the largest state which sends 80 members to the Lower House. Rahul has said that he has introduced Priyanka and Jyotiraditya in the state with the "aim to win both Lok Sabha and Vidan Sabha polls and end the system of injustice."  Priyanka's entry into active politics also comes at a juncture when Congress's  prospective allies  Samajwadi Party & Bahujan Samaj Party have snubbed the erstwhile party from the 'mahagatbandhan' . The newly appointed Congress general secretary on Sunday said that together with the people of the state she hopes to start a "new kind of politics" in which everyone will be a stakeholder. Priyanka and Scindia will reportedly interact with party workers at the state Congress office in Lucknow on February 12, 13 and 14.
