'Obligation To Do More Than What I Did In 10 Years': PM Modi In First Address To PMO Officials

PM Modi said that the recently held Lok Sabha election was not an approval to Modi's speeches, but an approval to the efforts of each government employee over the last 10 years. 

PM Modi on Monday addressed PMO staff in his first official engagement after swearing-in.

PM Narendra Modi on Monday, while addressing officials of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), said that the highest office of the country has one goal- nation first and only one motivation- 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.

Addressing the staff of PMO, Modi said, "Together we have just one goal -Nation First; just one intention - 2047 Viksit Bharat. I have said this publically, Mera Pal Pal Desh Ke Naam Hai. I have also promised the country - 24/7 for 2047. I have such expectations from the team."

In his first address to the PMO officials after assuming the office of the Prime Minister for the third time, PM Modi said, "I think my obligation now is to think more than I thought in 10 years, to do more than I did in 10 years. What has to be done now, is to be done towards the direction of crossing the Global Benchmark."

"What we were yesterday and how well we did today - that time has gone by...If the world is at a stage beyond which there is nothing else, we have to be there. We have to take our country where nobody else reached," he said.

The prime minister said that the recently held Lok Sabha election was not an approval to Modi's speeches, but an approval to the efforts of each government employee over the last 10 years. 

"Hence, if there is anyone who deserves this victory, it is you," PM Modi said while interacting with the staff on Monday.

Modi further said that the Prime Minister's Office was seen as the power centre before 2014, but he added that he "always believed that it should be people's PMO and not of Modi's."

"10 years ago the image in our country was that PMO is a power centre, a very big power centre and I was not born for power. I do not think of acquiring power. For me, it is neither my wish nor my path that PMO should become a power centre," he said. 

"The steps we have taken since 2014, we have tried to develop it as a catalytic agent...PMO should be people's PMO & it cannot be Modi's PMO," he further added.

Prime Minister Modi also stressed on three things: clarity of thoughts, faith in conviction and character to act.

"When we work, 3 things are very essential, and if we have these 3 things, then I don't believe that failure will be seen anywhere. Clarity of Thoughts, as far as the government is concerned, I believe that there is no confusion. It knows it has to go this way and it has to be achieved. Faith in Conviction- whatever I am listening to, whatever I am being told, I should not have disbelief in it. Character to Act- I have to mould my personality in such a way. I have to prioritize and devote myself to making the most of my time on that work," he added.
