Political Psychosis Of Rahul Gandhi On Full Display, Says Smriti Irani

Irani emphasized that while Gandhi's target is Prime Minister Modi, the Prime Minister's focus is solely on the development and progress of the country.

New Delhi: Union Minister Smriti Irani on Tuesday lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said that his "political psychosis" is on full display. Irani accused Gandhi of continuously lying, both during his recent visit to London and in India, inside and outside of Parliament.

She emphasized that while Gandhi's target is Prime Minister Modi, the Prime Minister's focus is solely on the development and progress of the country.

Interacting with the media, Irani said, "The political psychosis of Rahul Gandhi is on full display. He kept lying in London and in India, inside and outside the Parliament. Rahul Gndhi's target is PM Modi and PM Modi's target is the development of the country."

The BJP leader alleged that Rahul Gandhi was trying to "rip" apart the image of PM Narendra Modi. But the Congress leader will not succeed as the people of the country are with the Prime Minister, she stated.

"In an interview to a magazine in 2019, Mr Gandhi in his own words had claimed that Modi's greatest strength is his image and that he would will rip his image apart," she asserted at a press conference, adding, "So Rahul Gandhi your promise made to a magazine editor that you will rip PM Modi's image apart is a promise that shall remain unfulfilled because Narendra Modi's greatest strength is the people of India."

Referring to his conviction and sentencing in the 2019 defamation case, she said that the Congress leader's refusal to apologise to the OBC community for his "indecent" comments is yet another "manifestation" of the "Gandhi family's political arrogance".

"Rahul Gandhi could not develop the humility to beg for the forgiveness of the OBC community in our country is just another manifestation of a political arrogance called the Gandhi family," she said.

When asked about a notice served to Rahul Gandhi by the Housing Committee of Lok Sabha to vacate the government bungalow allotted to him, Irani said, "The house does not belong to him, it belongs to the common people."

Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as a Lok Sabha MP on Friday after the Surat court last week pronounced two years of jail for the party leader in the four-year-old criminal case over the 'Modi surname' remark.

Following his disqualification, the Lok Sabha Housing Committee on Monday issued a notice to the Congress leader asking him to vacate his official bungalow by April 22.
