PM Modi attacks opposition, says 'some parties promote unrest for political gains'

PM Modi addressed a rally at Maghar of UP's Sant Kabir Nagar district on the occasion of 500th death anniversary of saint Kabir Das.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Maghar of Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh where he paid floral tribute at saint Kabir’s Samadhi and offered chadar at his Mazaar, on the occasion of his 500th death anniversary. PM has chosen to address a public rally here which is being viewed as his poll bugle for 2019 . Here are the latest updates:
  • Attacking the opposition parties PM said "Some parties do not want peace & development but unrest. They think if there will be unrest, they will be politically benefitted." He then slammed them by saying that such people are unaware of the nature of the country. While addressing the cheering crowd he made special mention of Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar along with Sant kabir He said that the country has had great sons like Sant Kabir, Mahatma Gandhi & Baba Ambedkar.
  • Attacking the political parties that are supporting Congress, PM said : "2 days ago, there was 43rd anniversary of Emergency. It is the greed for power that those who imposed and those who opposed Emergency have come together today. They don't see the welfare of society but only the welfare of themselves & their families"
  • PM launches indirect attack at Akhilesh Yadav and party by terming his government "bugalow wali sarkar". He said: "the 'bungalow government' did not do anything to meet the housing needs of the poors, they rather stalled the projects for years. It was only when Yogi government came to power, that record number of houses were provided to the poor people."
  • PM begins his address by remembering saint Kabir and his famous verses.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi offers 'chadar' at Sant Kabir's Mazar in Maghar. He visited the Sant Kabir Cave where he unveiled a plaque to mark the laying of Foundation Stone of Kabir Academy, which is to highlight the saint’s teachings and thoughts. Government has taken this initiative so that saint Kabir’s teachings and his memoirs can reach across the globe. His belongings and the heritage he left behind will be compiled in an international academy so that the tourist coming from far off places can know about the saint.

  • PM has chosen to utilise the occasion to hold a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Sant Kabir Nagar. He will be addressing a public meeting in Maghar after witnessing a cultural programme.
 
  • A day ago while on his onspection of the place, UP CM Yogi Adityanath stirred a controversy by refusing the Muslim skullcap at Kabir's mazaar. Earlier , when PM Modi was a CM he had also refused to wear the skullcap on one occasion.
