PM Modi To Interact With State CMs Today At 3PM, Will Discuss Lockdown Exit Plan

Sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold fifth video conferencing with all the Chief Ministers tomorrow at 3 pm, to discuss lockdown exit plan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a high-level meeting with state Chief Ministers to take stock of coronavirus situation and discuss on a safe lockdown exit strategy. The fifth since the lockdown started, the meeting will take place through video conferencing at 3 pm. Earlier on Sunday, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba chaired a meeting with Chief Secretaries and Health Secretaries of all the states and union territories. According to the sources, officials during the session expressed concern over the increasing number of COVID-19 cases across the nation. They said that the red, green and orange zone system is not resulting very successful as the way the number of cases are rising in districts with the return of migrants, most of the districts now fall under red zones. India has so far recorded over  62,000 coronavirus cases with more than 2,100 people loosing their lives to the deadly disease. Nearly 20,000 have recovered and returned homes from isolation centers falling sick due to the contagious coronavirus. Also Watch:  PM Modi to discuss lockdown exit plan today at 3 PM The country despite being under the third phase of lockdown witnessed a sharp increase in COVID-19 positive cases as in just past one week, nearly 20,000 new cases were reported taking tally of confirmed coronavirus cases from 40,000 to 60,000.
 Witnessing the worsening situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided to extend the nationwide lockdown till May 17, which initially began from March 25. With each phase of the lockdown, centre and states faced new challenges. Now that the third phase of lockdown is about to come to a conclusion, an increase in the curve of COVID-19 cases may turn out to be another worrisome development for the government and health authorities and impact its decisions on lockdown exit strategy.
The novel coronavirus, which first appeared in the Wuhan city od Chin has rapidly spread across the world infecting more than four million. The global death toll has also risen to above 277,000.
