PM Modi Extends Wishes For Chaitra Navratri, Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Navreh Amid Celebrations

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended wishes to people across various regions in the country on the occasion of Hindu New Year and Chaitra Navratri.

 “Happy New Year to all of you. Vikram Samvat 2079 brought new enthusiasm and new zeal in everyone’s life,” PM Modi tweeted.

Sharing wishes on the start of Chaitra Navratri, the PM tweeted in Hindi: “Happy Navratri to all the countrymen. May this festival of worship of Shakti infuse new energy in everyone’s life.”

Modi also wishes the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on the Telugu New Year, “Best wishes on the special occasion of Ugadi.” He wished that “the coming year is marked with lots of joy and prosperity. May we all scale new heights of success in the new year.”

It is the first day of the Chaitra month of the Telugu Shaka Samvat 1943 while Maharashtra celebrates Gudi Padwa or the Maharashtrian New Year.

Extending a greeting to the people of Maharashtra on Gudi Padwa in Marathi, he wrote: “Gudi Padva’s best wishes. I wish you happiness and good health this year. May all your wishes come true in the coming year.”

Modi also wished people from Kashmir for Navreh and the Sindhi community on the occasion of Jhulelal Jayanti.

 PM Modi extended his wishes on the occasion of Manipur New Year as well.

Meanwhile, Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh also wished citizens for the Chaitra Navratri and Hindu New Year celebrations taking place across the nation today.

The new year as per the traditional Hindu calendar marks the onset of spring and also the reaping of Rabi crops.
