After Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, now Congress has sought postponement of Opposition parties meeting in Patna on June 12. According to ABP News sources, the grand old party will be attending the meeting but top party leaders are likely to miss. About 24 opposition parties are likely to participate in the meeting called by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on June 12. The JD (U) leadership has already discussed the plan with 18 parties, while they are in consultation with the remaining seven, reported ABP News.
Kumar has been pitching for "opposition unity" for the Lok Sabha election to be held in 2024 ever since he broke ties with the BJP in August last year.
Stalin said that the DMK will attend the meeting in Patna. However, he sought a postponement of the meeting as he will be attending the inaugural ceremony of Mettur dam on the same day. According to ANI, TN CM Stalin said, "I will be attending the inauguration ceremony of the Mettur Dam on the day when the opposition meeting in Bihar is going to happen. It is an important event. Even the Congress president will be held up at a different event and won't be able to attend the meeting on that day. So, I have requested to postpone the meeting. However, DMK will surely attend the meet."
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday reiterated senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's stance and said that a decision on fielding one common candidate on all the 450 constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 will be taken up by non-BJP parties at a meeting called by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna on June 12. He also said that Uddhav Thackeray and NCP chief Sharad Pawar will attend the meeting.
