The police personnel had cordoned off the entire area after rushing to the spot on received a PCR call regarding the two unattended bags at around 12.30 p.m.
A bomb disposal squad of the Delhi Police had also reached the spot sensing the gravity of the situation.
This takes place just five days after a 3 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found concealed in an unattended bag at Delhi’s Ghazipur flower market area.
The incident in Ghazipur flower market area had triggered panic among the residents of the national capital less than a fortnight ahead of the Republic Day.
The National Security Guard (NSG) has in its final post-blast investigation report said that the IED found in Ghazipur flower market area had ammonium nitrate and RDX as its components and a timer was attached to it.
“The IED contained ammonium nitrate, RDX, a 9-volt battery, iron pieces that could act as shrapnel during an explosion and had a timer device attached to it,” the NSG report submitted to the Delhi Police earlier on Monday said, PTI reported.
The investigation report said that RDX was used as the core explosive in the IED but it did not blow off due to a “glitch” in the circuit.
