KP Sharma Oli Sworn-In As Nepal PM For Fourth Time, PM Modi Congratulates
Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge also congratulated Oli on party's behalf on being reappointed as Prime Minister of Nepal for a fourth term.
Khagda Prasad Sharma Oli took oath as the Prime Minister of Nepal for the fourth time on Monday after the outgoing PM Pushp Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' failed to secure the trust of the House of Representatives during Friday’s floor test.
President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Oli during the ceremony.
Sharma was apppointed prime minister for the fourth time after President Ram Chandra Paudel invited political parties to form a new government following the floor test.
The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) chief along with his new coalition partner Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba reached President's officer and staked claim for the post of prime minister, according to a Kathmandu Post report.
Oli will now need to secure a vote of confidence from Parliament withing 30 days of appointment according to the constitutional mandate. He will need a minimum of 138 votes in the 275-seat House of Representatives.

PM Modi, Congress Congratulate Oli
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Oli on Monday on his reappointment saying he looks forward to working closely to "further strengthen the deep bonds of friendship" between the two countries.

"Congratulations @kpsharmaoli on your appointment as the Prime Minister of Nepal," said Modi in a post on social media platform X.
"Look forward to working closely to further strengthen the deep bonds of friendship between our two countries and to further expand our mutually beneficial cooperation for the progress and prosperity of our peoples," he added.
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge extended wishes on party's behlf to the new Nepal PM.
"On the behalf of Indian National Congress, we extend our best wishes to Shree K P Sharma Oli, on his appointment as the Prime Minister of Nepal," Kharge said in a post on X.
"As close neighbors, India and Nepal share unique ties of friendship and partnership characterised by deep-rooted people-to-people contacts of kinship and culture. Every Indian looks forward to further strengthening the bonds of mutual cooperation for a brighter future," he added.
