Mumbai: Mumbai is witnessing incessant rains marking the arrival of monsoon in the region. The city has been facing continuous rains for 48 hours which has slowed down the pace of the city also causing the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway to remain shut. Officer-goers faced a harrowing time as water-logging at several places slowed movement of suburban trains and vehicles on roads.
In Mumbai's Malad, which received the highest rainfall of the day, a youth lost his life after he fell into an open drain.
The rains have even slowed down the traffic in the Western Expressway while Central Mumbai’s Dharavi and Sion are filled with water.
In this mayhem, a tree fell in South Mumbai near Metro Cinema and claimed two lives and injured three. The injured were rushed to G.T. Hospital.
On the contrary, the scorching heat in Delhi is expected to continue for the next two days as well. According to Skymet Weather Services, Delhi NCR, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh can expect monsoon to arrive by June 27.
