Mumbai Sees Two Major Fires On The Same Day; 22-Year-Old Man Injured In Fort Area Blaze

On Wednesday, Mumbai witnessed two cases of fire on the same day. In the incident that happened in the evening, a 22-year-old suffered burn injuries.

Mumbai: A fire broke out in a building in south Mumbai’s Fort area on Wednesday. According to a report by PTI, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has said that one person has been injured in the incident. The fire started at Bahubali building on Kawasji Patel Road in Fort around 7.15 pm and dousing operations started soon. A 22-year-old man suffered 30-35 percent burn injuries in the incident and was admitted to a nearby private hospital, the official said. This was the second blaze in the city on the same day. Early in the morning, a fire broke out in a 15-storey building in Worli area of central Mumbai. While no one was injured in the incident, 10 people were trapped inside the building who were later rescued. "The fire erupted on the tenth floor of Sterling Seaface Apartment on Dr Annie Besant Road around 12.30 am," a civic official said in the report by PTI. Since the lockdown began, the city has been witnessing several cases of fire. In one of the major cases that a massive fire had erupted in a five-storey hotel in south Mumbai’s Marine Lines , in which around 30 doctors had a narrow escape. The doctors were treating  Coronavirus patients at JJ Hospital, and were lodged in Hotel Fortune near Metro Cinema, where the blaze broke out, as per fire officials. There were some coronavirus suspects also quarantined in the hotel apart from the doctors.
