I Appreciate UP Govt For Ferrying Kota Students But Think Of Migrant Workers Too, Tweets Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati took to Twitter to talk about the initiative taken by the Uttar Pradesh government to ferry coaching students stuck in Kota and has asked for the same concern for migrant labourers.

New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati took to Twitter to talk about the initiative taken by the Uttar Pradesh government to ferry coaching students stuck in Kota and has asked for the same concern for migrant labourers. The state government had arranged around 250 buses to pick up stranded students and drop them to their native districts. Around 9,000 students from UP who were preparing for different competitive examinations in Kota were being sent home in the wake of lockdown imposed in the nation. In her Tweet, she praised the preparedness of Uttar Pradesh to retrieve students stranded in Kota but has also requested the same concern for labourers stuck at different places in the country.
She wrote in her Tweet,” To bring home the 7500 young coaching students stuck in Kota Rajasthan, the Uttar Pradesh government has arranged several buses. I welcome this initiative and BSP appreciates this step. But I urge the government to have the same concern for the lakhs of poor migrant labourers and their families who are away from their homes are forced to live a hellish life.” The buses reached Kota from Uttar Pradesh on Friday but there were reports about a violation of social distancing. The Rajasthan government has also kept its 100 buses ready which shall ply to drop these students to their places if required. Kota is known as the coaching city of India and lakhs of student from across the country study for various engineering and medical entrance exams in this city. When the lockdown was announced on March 24 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi they were stuck in the city. On April 14, the Prime Minister announced the extension of the lockdown till May 3. The students then started a twitter campaign #sendusbackhome asking authorities to help them.
