Maoist Leader Who Carried Rs 5 Lakh Bounty Arrested In Jharkhand's Garhwa District

Manoj Parihar, the self-styled sub-zonal leader of the illegal extremist organisation, was caught from the jungle early this morning with a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, according to the SDPO. 

A leader of a splinter faction of the banned CPI(Maoist), who had a Rs 5 lakh bounty on his head, was caught on Sunday in Jharkhand's Garhwa district, according to police, news agency PTI reported.  According to Ranka Sub-Divisional Police Officer Santosh Kumar, a police team raided the Chete Patsar forest under the Ramkanda Police Station limits, about 205 kilometres from the state capital Ranchi, and apprehended the leader of the proscribed outfit Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad.

Parihar, a native of the district's Goreya Karam village, had previously been affiliated with the outlawed Tritiya Sammenlan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), he added.

IED Explodes During Anti-Maoist Operation In Odisha

Meanwhile, Police claimed an improvised explosive device (IED) burst during a combing operation in Juigsaipatna village in Kalahandi district on Saturday, narrowly missing Odisha's anti-Maoist elite squad, the Special Operation Group (SOG), and CRPF jawans, PTI reported.

The police force suffered no casualties, injuries, or damage, according to Kalahandi SP SP Abhilash G.

According to the SP, an IED detonated in Kalahandi's Jugsaipatna region during a police combing operation in honour of the Maoists' martyrs' week, PTI reported.

According to police, Maoists who were present in the vicinity after the IED was detonated left the scene, taking advantage of the deep woods and rain.
